Marimbas and March Tortoises

dear march tortoises and hares,

it's been a long while since i last wrote. sadly i've still been having trouble with my hands and forearms, although things are much better than they were when i last updated you. thankfully the pain stays at bay most of the time, and i'm able to play the harp for short periods of time. i still need to be careful not to re-aggravate things, but all in all i seem to be making progress, even if it's at a snail's pace.

i'm hoping to work my way back to performing my own songs again slowly, and luckily i have the perfect opportunity to start that process this friday, when i'll be making a small musical contribution to a grand (but intimate) night that will be in celebration of a friend's far-reaching musical talents, as well as her birthday(!). i'm grateful to be a part of the "and friends"! read on for details...

here's hoping for spring soon!

slowly and steadily,
petaluma

p.s. my album,
The Long Way Out, is still just a short way to your door via postal service (and even shorter via online download!).

A highly expressive and versatile musician, Vessela Stoyanova, has been involved in many musical projects since the time she moved to the US from her native Bulgaria. Some of the groups she has co-founded in the Boston area include the art-rock group Fluttr Effect, the neo-chamber duo Goli, and her latest group, Bury Me Standing that mix elements of Balkan folk, thrash metal, & psychedelia to make something unique and exciting.

For this show, Vessela will showcase the broad range of styles she has incorporated into her musical palate with help from friends who have been part of her projects over time. Vessela's main instrument is the marimba but she also plays a number of other instruments including the melodica, glockenspiel and various other percussion instruments. Vessela's musical vocabulary is far reaching so you may even hear a song made famous by Piaf or
Fats Waller arranged for marimba.

Vessela's birthday happens to be on this very evening. Come help her celebrate and make it a memorable one!
